Strawberry Fields Forever

With the beautiful warm weather and strawberry fields right on our doorstep, we ventured out twice last week at 6.45 in the morning to pick strawberries. The strawberries were cleaned, and to the delight of the seniors, on their breakfast plates by 7.45 am, still warm from the field. Huge, sweet and juicy.

The first 20 lbs of strawberries were picked on Tuesday and were gone by Thursday. I understand that the seniors ate “everything strawberry”, imaginable. The second 20lbs of strawberries were picked on Friday and have been frozen for smoothies and other treats. Our own rhubarb is harvested and in the freezer. And we are now waiting to see if our raspberry bushes are going to produce after suffering in the recent intensive heat.
